Sheffield's Sewerage Works Railways

This book contains chapters describing four industrial railway systems which once operated in and around the Yorkshire city of Sheffield. These sites are Blackburn Meadows, Coisley Hill, Wharncliffe Side and Woodhouse Mill, which operated industrial railways of standard and narrow gauges (and a mono-rail) utilising steam and diesel locomotives. The coverage also includes the fascinating story of the main line trains which took Sheffield's sewage waste from Blackburn Meadows to tips at Kilnhurst and Thrybergh, near Rotherham. The book is profusely illustrated, has several maps, and contains much information gleaned by the author during extensive original research in Yorkshire Water's private archives.

Softback, 84 pages, black & white and colour photographs
