A programme exploring various aspects of the main line from St Pancras to the North. Steam is featured in the 1950s and 1960s along with the railway, it’s signalling stations with particular emphasis on St Pancras and it’s approaches.

A complete film from the days of the London Midland and Scottish Railway looking in detail at the relaying of the junctions outside St Pancras in 1947.
St Pancras in 1964 with views from the cab showing both steam and diesel traction.
St Pancras during the 1970s and 1980s.
Freight along the Midland Main Line showing featuring ‘Garratts’, 8Fs and 9Fs.
Freight around Trent Junction including WDs and Black 5s.
Steam hauled passenger services featuring ‘Scots’, ‘Jubilees’, ‘Patriots’, Fowler 2-6-4 tanks and a Standard 5.
The semaphores and stations of the post steam era.
The Midland Main Line through the Peak District with steam at work on the line from Ambergate to Chinley via Matlock and Peak Forest.
The ‘Blue Pullman’ plus the Midland route through the Hope Valley.
