Industrial Railways and Locomotives of Furness Westmorland and Isle of Man

This book is a further volume in the series covering the industrial railways and locomotives of Great Britain. As originally planned there was to be a single volume dealing with the post-1974 county of Cumbria, but as the editing progressed it became clear that there was too much material for a single book. It was therefore divided into two volumes and the first, published in June 2017, covers the former county of Cumberland. This second book covers Furness and Westmorland, and also the Isle of Man. The two volumes include material previously published in Pocket Book M (1966) which covered Cumberland Westmorland and the Isle of Man, together with material on the Furness area of Lancashire which originally appeared in Pocket Book 7 (1952). The information published in these earlier works has been greatly amplified, and many more sites are listed than were previously known. The books list and describe not only the locomotives and their locations, but also include civil engineering contracts, non-locomotive preservation sites, dealers, and selected minor railways. and
