In the second part of this series, the author looks at the design and building of a 7mm scale layout, taking into account some of the situations in which potential layout builders might find themselves, options for types of scene, methods of construction, how much space it might take up and whether the results will fulfillthe builders requirements. Probably most important of all, it should be fun to build and operate rather than grind to a halt through loss of interest. As well as suggestions for layouts such as a light railway terminus, a passing station on a continuous circuit, a mineral tramway, a small brewery yard in a shed and around the garden, he also covers the construction of scenery, buildings and structures, vehicles and figures. There is also a chapter on exhibiting.
