Midland Engines No 2 The Class Three Belpaire Goods Engines

The subjects of this work were members of a generally similar but, in detail, far from homogeneous class of locomotives that had its origins in several series of Johnson 0-6-0s built both at Derby Works and by outside contractors between 1885 and 1908. Generally they were commonly known as 'class 3 Belpaire goods engines' and seem to have been well liked and respected by those who worked on or with them. Indeed their popularity in LMS and BR days seems to have been almost unmatched by any other Midland Engines. The book looks at the origins, rebuilding, tenders, livery and withdrawal.
Softcover, 64 pages, 32 b/w illustrations, 17 drawings.
