The sixty '2441' Class goods engines were natural descendents of the '1102', or 'A' Class 0-6-0Ts of 1874 and precursors in their rebuilt form of the LMS standard 3F shunting tanks, commonly known to enthusiasts as 'Jinties'. Built between 1899 and 1902, they were the last Midland engines in service and survived as late as their LMS built counterparts, being withdrawn between 1954 and 1966.This book now looks at these engines in the usual way with notes on the Origins, Construction and Modification, the Engines in Service and Liveries.
