Riding the ROG Stock Move #6 - Cab Ride: Leicester to Eastleigh

Riding the ROG Stock Move #6 Cab Ride: Leicester to Eastleigh via Nuneaton, Tyseley, Banbury, Oxford, Reading and Basingstoke.

This is a cab ride on a Class 47, heading light engine from Leicester to Eastleigh to collect two barrier coaches following overhaul.

Filmed on board freshly painted and recently named 47815 'Lost Boys 68-86', the route is relatively straightforward from Leicester to Nuneaton, over the WCML and along to Water Orton and Washwood Heath. Passing Lawley Street Freightliner terminal, at Bordesley Junction we head for Tyseley and a rare move onto the newly re-laid Up and Down goods loop at Dorridge, for a pathing stop.

From here we pass Leamington Spa, Banbury, Oxford and Didcot before taking the curve outside of Reading for Reading West and onto Basingstoke and third-rail country before passing Winchester and Eastleigh, terminating at the Eastleigh Alstom site.

Similar to our ROG#4 cab ride, on these inter-regional journeys, we pass a staggering amount of different trains, from brand new Class 802s to HSTs, Class 68 hauled Chiltern sets, various freight, DMUs and EMUs.

Filmed on a fine early-spring day in April 2019, the loco and ambient sounds are recorded with a special 'thrash-cam' in the back cab.

Includes maps, part-narration and on-screen captions.
